Chinook Heating & Air: Tri-Cities heating and cooling, and the home of the 90 minute tune-up

Dave and Kelli Hubbard opened Chinook in Kennewick in 2000. The crew repairs and installs furnaces, heat pumps and air conditioners across the Tri-Cities, gives a flat rate price before the work starts, and runs emergency service 24/7.

The 90 minute tune-up

Where the ninety minutes go.

Chinook publishes its maintenance checklist: 31 lines, from cleaning the coils to testing the defrost cycle. Four of them are pinned here on one of their own service calls.

What the vans go out for

Five kinds of call, one crew.

Chinook works on homes and businesses across the Tri-Cities. These are the jobs the phone rings for most. Duct cleaning, geothermal systems and gas fireplace service each have a page of their own.

The green and navy vans you have seen around town.

I've had them do full installs and routine maintenance and they have been great in both settings. Their people are thorough and responsive to questions. They were the only company that offered extra input for a return air situation, doing a thorough inspection before quoting and then their prices are very reasonable too. We've had a couple of little things come up and they've taken care of them quickly so I would definitely recommend them and will continue using them myself.

Asked at the door

Straight answers, the way their technicians give them.

These answers come from Chinook’s own FAQ, duct cleaning and maintenance plan pages. The published duct cleaning price is in there too.

More heating and air questions

A technician works through Chinook's maintenance checklist on your system: cleaning the coils and blower assembly, tightening electrical connections, recording voltages and amperages, testing safety controls, checking refrigerant pressures and clearing the condensate drain. Members of the Comfort365 plan get two of these visits a year.

Like changing the oil in your car, a well-maintained system gives you steadier comfort and lasts longer. Chinook says regular checks extend the life of the system and keep it running at its best, and manufacturers often require maintenance to keep a warranty in force.

Chinook's published price is $500 for up to 12 supply registers and 2 return registers. Each additional register is $25. A dryer vent cleaning is $80 when added to a duct cleaning visit, or $200 on its own. A trip fee may apply outside the Tri-Cities.

They work as one system, and it runs better and longer when the components are matched in capacity and efficiency. A new air conditioner paired with an older furnace and indoor coil may not reach the efficiency rating you paid for.

Chinook starts with an energy analysis of the house: measuring windows, checking insulation, ductwork and building materials, and asking about the comfort problems you have now. The quote for a new or replacement system is free.
