Working through your heating and air conditioning unit, Air Scrubber Plus is described on Chinook's page as a photocatalytic device that significantly reduces dust, pet dander and airborne allergens, along with odors such as cigarette smoke, paint fumes, mold and strong cooking smells.

What comes in on hands, clothes and shoes lands on doorknobs, counter tops and floors. Chinook's page says the technology is proven to destroy up to 99% of surface contaminants and reduce approximately 90% of airborne contaminants. Those figures are the manufacturer's.

Sneezing, congestion, itchy or watery eyes. The system uses specialized light waves and a proprietary catalytic process that creates enviro-scrubbing molecules of oxygen and hydrogen, which the page says purify the air and can relieve allergy symptoms from dust, mold and pollen.

By trapping dirt, dust and debris before it can pass the filter and settle on the coils and the blower, the page says Air Scrubber Plus helps a protected system last longer, cut utility costs and need fewer service calls.

Air Scrubber Plus can only be bought from a certified dealer. Chinook’s page says its contractors are licensed to install and maintain the systems, that Chinook provides a labor and product warranty, and that the unit can connect to most existing HVAC systems.
The Protect job is the one a tune-up sees for itself. The 90 minute visit cleans the blower assembly and looks over the coils by hand, and a system that has caught less dirt in between gives that visit less to clean. Members on the Comfort365 maintenance plan get two of those visits a year, and duct cleaning deals with what has already settled in the ducts.
Chinook's FAQ makes a broader claim of its own: that an air scrubber can eliminate 99.98% of allergens and other pollutants in the home. Read that one as Chinook’s claim, and ask the technician how it applies to your home.
